First watercolour in many years; looking forward to making more!
This is the bridge of the Castle Doorwerth, near the river Neder-Rijn. I actually painted it from a photograph that I took on my laptop, because the weather was not good enough to sit outside at the location. I was especially interested in the different shadows.<br/>Watercolour: it had been a long time since I last did a water colour and I enjoyed it a lot. Probably because I am now more used to the bright colours of acrylics, this water colour turned out quite bright as well. I especially enjoyed being able to include so much detail so easily.
This is a tiny watercolour, painted on a rather cold spring day in 2003. It was a challenge to quickly catch the specifics of this view, with the backlight behind the trees.
This bench was right in front of the old watermill that we rented while we were in France. I especially like the shadow of the hollyhock on the wall.
A simple subject, with not so simple grass and shadow.
Corner with bench
I was intrigued by the backseat of the bench, with the intricate rose pattern. The composition, although not very classical, worked out nicely.
